Type Locality and Naming
Holotype section: North of Sarobi village, along Isha-Razmak road. Author: S. Ahmed et al., 2000. Reference section: None.
Lithology and Thickness
Clayey limestone. The formation comprises a sequence of alternating limestone and shale. At the type locality, its lower part is predominantly limestone, while the upper part is shale. The limestone is thin bedded, occasionally thick bedded, micritic and grey to dark grey; it weathers to brownish grey and yellowish brown color. The limestone is very hard and forms ridges. It is fine crystalline to fairly coarse grained, with shelly, oolitic, peletic and pisolitic interbeds. The shale is flaky, slaty, splintery, papery and black on fresh surface and weathers to greenish grey, dark grey and brownish grey colors.
Thickness: 400+ m. It is 400 m thick in the type locality.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Thrust faulted at the type locality.
Upper contact
Conformably overlain by Isha Fm (gradational).
Regional extent
Restricted to Kurram Agency area.

The formation is fossiliferous, and has yielded bivalves, crinoids, belemnites, gastropods, bryozoans and corals.
